RInput 1.31 sequential edition released

April 19th, 2009

rinput Logo

Just did an update on RInput as some sequential (single threaded) games were suffering from performance issues in combination with Rinput. Because the win32 dynamic library system depends on the process affinity it would’ve been quite dirty to set the process affinity inside the DLL. For anyone who was experiencing this issue, here is the single threaded version (with some minor performance improvements).

    Hello Abort,
I was wondering if this program runs on a 64bit OS. I have windows 7 64bit and it says it injects successfully. I can tell it does something because in counter strike 1.6 i sometimes cant click on dialog boxes (select team, quit game, choose class, ect.). i use an intellimouse 3.0 so i cant test any physical movements as its almost the same. although it does feel smoother somewhat. but it could all be in my head. i use it because raw input is a way better mouse input then WM_MOUSEMOVE. so does it support 64bit OS?

    Hello,

My rinput just randomly stopped working right after several restarts and uplugging my mouse, and replugging it in. It worked great up until then. Basically the mouse will stop moving in-game and i will have to close the process to get the mouse to work in windows. This problem does not occur if i do not run the software, but i really liked using it despite the bugs i noticed in cs1.6 with the menus. Any way to get it to work again? Im on 32-bit XP home.

I’m using CS 1.6 with Steam and it’s not working correctly. Whenever I run rinput and go to the counter-strike menu, I can’t click on anything there seems to be a conflict between the game and this software.
I’m running the game at 800×600 and I play with a Deathadder at 500hz and 1800dpi for info.

Would be great to get some help, it seems to work quite well with a lot of people here, I really wanna rock this brand new mouse! (Im left handed btw)

    See ya!

It’s me again. Here is a more complete summary if my situation. It’s a bit long, but it seems I got a different problem, I didn’t find anybody with the same as me. All advice is welcome!

I read this post on steampowered (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1766185&highlight=rinput).

It’s complete and very well explained but unfortunately I don’t get any result. Or maybe I’m not searching for the same mouse feel as everyone else?!

My setup is 800×600, 100fps, windows accel is OFF and I checked on (http://phoon.us/mouse/) with the Mouse Movement Recorder, I don’t need a mousefix. I installed the very last Razer drivers and firmware, and the settings are 500hz 1800dpi. I use this to play Counter Strike 1.6 on steam.

I ran counter-strike then RInput.exe and typed hl.exe, everything was fine until I came back in the game window. It seems that there’s a conflict between the game and RInput. I can’t click on any option of the menu! When you pass the mouse over ‘find servers’ for example, you normally get one sound that tells you that you can click on it. But here it plays that sounds non stop! And when I click, nothing happens. It’s all buggy :/

I managed to join a game though, but I couldn’t see any difference with or without RInput… .

Now I’m wondering if RInput gives a ‘no-accel’ feel? Because if it’s the case, that’s not what I’m looking for. I want the same accel feeling I got with my old MS 3.0 mouse and with windows accel ON.
The problem with the DeathAdder is that I can’t leave windows accel ON because the mouse acts weird with low movements. I have to leave it OFF, but I don’t know how to get it back WITHOUT putting windows accel back on!

    So….what can I do? I’m heartbroken.
I play left-handed now, it’s the first left-handed mouse that has pretty much the same shape feel than the right-handed MS 3.0 I used before I broke my right wirst (I can’t play with my right hand anymore with the mouse, it’s too fucked up, it’s just OK for the keyboard). I waited for a mouse like this for months and months, and it doesnt work 🙁

Sorry about the long message, but there are a lot of things involved.

    Thanks for your answers,

    GuiGeek

Hi again. This is a complete summary of my situation, because I’ve read a lot of threads and infos about this and couldn’t find a solution to my problem.

    I can’t use this tool on Counter-Strike 1.6 in Windows 7 64Bit.
When I do run it, start cs and try to click, the menu goes crazy!!!
Its like the mousepointer all of a sudden isn’t where it is supposed to be and I can not click on some of the GUI elements. This only occurs in counterstrike 1.6 (hl.exe)

Thanks for this. Can we expect an update and or for you to release the source? I´m hoping for both so we can have access to this great tool in future games.

Sorry guys for not updating back in the day. Study took my time and I forgot about it for a while. Then I saw the HL2 engine was updated with raw input, which meant for me that I did not have to develop a x64 update for RInput.

About the source, I want to reconstruct it before release, but I definitely am a supporter of open source software. The source will be posted on this blog for sure, but I can not give you an indication when.

For people with allocating console issues try starting the console from command prompt or start the program as admin.

hi, i tried rinput 1.31 on my win 7 x64
    it said injected succesfully
but it didnt affect the mouse accel in game (cs1.6)
any idea why or how can i fix it?

  17. May 26th, 2012 at 02:16 | #17

@qkat Hi, then most likely the problem is not software related. It could be fluctuating fps causing a similar feeling, but it’s most likely the mouse sensor being unreliable, as most mouse sensors these days. I recommend you checking the hardware section on esreality.com

I made a program to automatically inject RInput during launch for various games along with settings to change digital vibrance for games. It’s called sourceGL http://sourcegl.sourceforge.net
